The Gabon - US Timber Symposium 2024 is a unique platform designed to to provide a platform for networking, knowledge exchange, cooperation, investment, and collaboration among various stakeholders in the timber sector between Gabon and the United States. The symposium will focus on sustainable practices, technological advancements, and policy frameworks that can drive growth and sustainability in the timber industry.
We hope that it will create a solid relationship between the government of Gabon via its Ministry of Environment and U.S. timber industry officials.

Okoumé (Aucoumea klaineana)
This is the most famous timber from Gabon, often referred to as "Gaboon" in the plywood industry. It is highly valued for its lightweight, workability, and veneer quality.
Kevazingo, also known as Bubinga
(scientific names: Guibourtia tessmannii, Guibourtia pellegriniana, or Guibourtia demeusei), is a highly valued hardwood found in Gabon and other parts of Central Africa
Ébène (Diospyros crassiflora)
A highly prized wood for its dark color, density, and fine grain, Ebony is used in luxury furniture, musical instruments, and inlays.
Padauk (Pterocarpus soyauxii)
This wood is prized for its vibrant reddish color and is often used in furniture, flooring, and decorative veneers.
